Anorexic voice: Refers to an internal "voice" anorexics associate with their eating disordered thoughts and feelings.  This is sometimes but not always experienced as a hallucination, but as a cognitive distortion where the eating disorder seems to take on its own identity. The voice becomes the personification of the pressures toward disordered eating feelings, beliefs, and behaviors imposed by the disease For many patients, resisting this "voice" is a major challenge of the recovery process.
