Carbohydrates ("carbs")

Carbohydrates ("carbs"): One of three macronutrients, along with proteins and fats, that provide the body with essential energy. All of the tissues and cells in the body require carbohydrates for glucose/energy. Insufficient carb intake, either from restriction or purging, results in both fat and muscle tissue being broken down and used as energy.
