Low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia, can indicate diabetes, liver or kidney [renal] complications, or other systemic anomalies. It is often a sequelae of low caloric intake and/or purging in eating disorders. Prolonged severe hypoglycemia can lead to neurological and serious systemic complications, including shock and death.
