Oral nutritional supplements

Oral nutritional supplements are foods, usually liquefied and high in caloric content, to supplement normal eating and promote weight gain. In IP/RC settings, supplements are used when a patient has been unable to finish the required ration of solid foods. Examples in the United States include: Ensure, Ensure Plus, Boost, Boost Plus, Carnation Instant Breakfast, Glucerna (for diabetic patients).
