Pregnancies in eating disorder patients are considered high risk; due to malnutrition, dehydration, vitamin and hormone deficiencies, and compensatory behaviors. Medical management must anticipate miscarriage of pregnancy and still born delivery; and an increased likelihood of acute and chronic illnesses, and birth defects in neonates.
