Russell's Sign: Scraped or raw areas on the patient's knuckles, caused by self-induced vomiting. Absence of this sign is not an indication of the absence of purging; as patients may also use foreign objects i.e. tooth brush heads, straws, etc. to induce vomiting. Risks associated with this include accidental swallowing of the object.
