BDNF - brain-derived neurotophic factor

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF): a protein that acts on certain neurons of the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system, helping to support the survival of existing neurons and encourage the growth and differentiation of new neurons and synapses.  This study shows that BDNF is significantly lower in women with anorexia nervosa (AN) compared with women without an eating disorder and women recovered from AN.
