Vasopressin

Vasopressin (Pitressin is brandname) is a man-made form of a hormone called "anti-diuretic hormone [ADH]" that is naturally secreted by the pituitary gland.  ADH acts on the kidneys and blood vessels to help prevent water loss by reducing urine output and increasing reabsorption of water in the kidneys. It also raises blood pressure by constricting blood vessels [vasoconstriction].  Research has shown ADH regulation to be abnormal in patients with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and OCD.
