Behavioral Systems Family Therapy (BSFT) is a variation of the Family-based Treatment/Maudsley approach. Parents are coached to implement a behavioral weight gain program, whereas in FBT/Maudsley the parents explore the optimal way to restore healthy weight in their adolescent with anorexia nervosa. BSFT also broadens the focus of treatment to include cognitions and problems in "family structure" while the parents are still in charge of the re-feeding process.
