Central coherence

Central coherence refers to a cognitive style in which there is a bias towards local or detailed focus processing of information over the natural tendency to integrate information in a contextual way.  Research indicates that people with anorexia nervosa have weak central coherence and weakness in global processing, particularly in the visio-spatial domain.
