Empowerment

In therapy, empowerment is gaining effective control over symptoms, impulses and urges which are substituted with effective utilization of support systems, coping skills and treatment. Empowerment entails setting and maintaining effective boundaries and limits as well as overall sense of balance leading to recovery, attainment of potential, goals and self acceptance. A goal of therapy is to enhance personal power to gain effective control over the eating disorder.
