Exposure with Response Prevention & Exposure Meals/Foods: A behavioral intervention used in the treatment of eating disorders in which fears of certain foods are confronted by exposing the sufferer to the feared food with the knowledge that it will trigger emotional arousal. The goal is to pair the feared food with a response prevention to interrupt patients from engaging in the typical pattern of behaviors and instead integrate skills and support. Patients are enabled to change their behaviors through repeated exposures, ultimately developing mastery over their fears.
