Psycho-Educational Parent Group

Psycho-Educational Parent Group: Combines a didactic (lecture) presentation to facilitate members sharing experiences with recovery, utilization of skills and sharing of resources. It is typically facilitated by a licensed clinician and is an adjunct to primary, individualized treatment, not treatment in and of itself. Some of the primary goals of group are to support and empower parents in relation to the illness while decreasing isolation, guilt, shame and blame -- barriers towards being effective.
