Eating Disorder not Otherwise Specified (EDNOS)

Eating Disorder not Otherwise Specified (EDNOS) is an eating disorder classification for individuals who don't meet the DSM-IV-TR criteria for anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa yet display severe eating disordered symptoms.  It includes Binge Eating Disorder (BED), where the individual meets the diagnostic criteria for anorexia nervosa and continues to have monthly menses or the individual engages in daily self-induced vomiting, with an absence of binging and is not severely underweight.  EDNOS symptoms can be more lethal than those associated with anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa.
