PANDAS

PANDAS is anorexia nervosa in children believed linked to streptococcus. Clinical and research observations support the hypothesis that a postinfectious process, similar to that in rheumatic fever, may cause or exacerbate certain cases of anorexia nervosa. When the pathogen is group A ß-hemolytic streptococcus, these disorders are called pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcus (PANDAS).
